Slovakia Documents Required
The list of documents below is not an exhaustive list of documents and the applicant can always be asked to provide additional information/documents, if desired by the Mission.
Both the standard and the supporting documentation have to be recent, i.e. not older than 1 month, and need to be provided for every Schengen visa application.
Applicants always have to bring and present their original documents, but they only need to submit photocopies of the same; unless the requirements specify that an original document has to be submitted.
Before gathering the required documents mentioned below, applicants are advised to read the requirements under the Overview section in order to ensure they are entitled to apply for the chosen visa category.
Please provide the documents according to the Check List enclosed herewith, please click here.
For Minors, please click here.
- Filled out and signed visa application form. All sections must be filled out. State that an item is not applicable with N/A. Please indicate your e-mail address and a contact phone number.
- Valid national passport. In order to apply for a visa:
- Your passport must be valid at least 3 months longer than the intended stay.
- Passport issued more than 10 years ago cannot be considered for the application (regardless if the passport is still valid/was prolonged).
- At least two pages must be empty in the visa section of the passport.
- Proof of resident status in the UK: A valid UK residence card. The residence card should be valid for at least one month beyond the intended departure from the Schengen area.
- Proof of Purpose of Travel – Tourism
- Confirmed hotel booking for the full stay in the Schengen area or any other appropriate document stating the planned accommodation; or
- Booking confirmation of a European tour or any other appropriate document.
- Proof of travel arrangements: Detailed travel itinerary from departure to return, such as flight/train/bus (roundtrip) tickets or other proof of intended transport. If you are driving to Slovenia, please provide details of the vehicle and driver(s) (rent-a-car confirmation, proof of ownership of vehicle, driving license) as well as ferry/Euro shuttle tickets.
- Proof of employment / Proof of student status: Reference letter from employer stating your position and salary or recent pay slips (last three months). / A recent, officially signed letter from a UK school, college or university stating dates of enrolment and expected completion of studies, name of the applicant and type of studies. If self-employed: recent letter from an accountant, banker or a solicitor (official headed letter with name, date of issue, address, telephone number and position of signatory and registration number in the UK) stating self-employment or business ownership in the UK or letter from the tax authorities
- Proof of sufficient financial means for the intended journey: Bank account statements for the last three months; bank statements must show the name and address of holder(s). Electronic printouts are accepted.
- Medical travel insurance document: Applicants must present travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of 30.000 EUR, valid throughout the territory of Schengen member states. Insurance must cover any expenses which might arise in connection with urgent medical attention, emergency hospital treatment or repatriation for medical reasons, or repatriation of remains.
- Applicants for a visa for one or two entries must prove that they are in possession of travel medical insurance covering the whole period of their stay in Schengen area.
- Applicants for a visa for multiple entries shall prove that they are in possession of travel medical insurance covering the period of their first intended visit. The insurance must only cover the period of effective stay, not the validity of the visa. However, in cases of multiple entry visas, the insurance must be bought for each trip to the Schengen area – failure to provide proof of insurance at the border is grounds for denial of entry into the Schengen area countries. We suggest the insurance coverage is a couple of days longer than the intended stay, for cases of delayed flights or similar.
- Make sure that your insurance coverage letter will meet all the requirements and all information clearly shown.
- Full policies will not be studied.
- PLEASE NOTE: the insurance coverage letter is a compulsory document*. If the Medical insurance document is missing, the visa application will not be accepted.
*This does not apply to holders of diplomatic passports
If the applicant is a minor (under 18) and travels without parents or with one parent, please submit all requested documents depending on the purpose of the visit as listed above, and
- Birth certificate;
- If travelling alone: consent of the parental authority (both parents) or legal guardian (notarized);
- If travelling with one parent or legal guardian only: consent of other parental authority (notarized);
- If travelling alone or with one parent or legal guardian only: original passports of both parents;
- If the single parent with whom the minor is to travel, holds the paternal authority alone: document that proves he/she is the only parental authority e.g. birth certificate of the minor (indicating only one parent), death certificate, divorce or custody agreement
